Kathy & Joy, Thanks for the info on the loc to search land records. I checked IL and didn't find the people I was looking for. I know where there land was, but just wondered if they bought it from the government. I also went to the Iowa rootsweb page, but was not successful in locating a link to the Iowa land sales.
