Here are the only two James Hamiltons in Will Co. (note Canadian connection in both), at least according to the LDS 1880 census index (none in Elwood at that time). If you know that they stayed in Will Co., I would look for the family on the 1900 census, which gives a lot of useful info, including how long a couple had been married, number of children borne by mother, number living, birth date (month and year), etc. Good luck!
