    3. For Dave, Just found out that the Will Grundy Genealogy Society(WGGS)published in 2002 a transcription of the Lockport cemetery. Might want to contact them. Will Grundy Genealogy Society has their collection at the Coal City Public Library (Grundy County)IL. They only have a mailing address that I know of WGGS P.O.Box 24 Wilmington,IL. For all Will County researchers Also just published by WGGS The Arsenal Cemeteries McCune/McKune-Channahon Township German Evangelical-Florence Township Starr's Grove-Florence Township Reed's Grove-Jackson Township Klinger-Manhattan Township I have a copy of this one and will do lookups. Brenda Fraser has completed North Ridge/North Providence cemetery in Jackson township-available under illinois genweb tombstone inscription project(under will county) http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/illinois.html Leona A. Mathis & Kim Flint have completed the following: Maple Hill Jackson township-on the Asenal property but outside the fence Mt.St.Patrick's,Wilton township these transcriptions are available at illinois genweb tombstone inscription project (under will county) http://www.rootsweb.com/~cemetery/illinois.html and http://www.findagrave.com For those of you who might have a connection to western townships of will county check out cemetery transcriptions done in Grundy County by Kendall County Historical Society of cemeteries contiguous to Kendall at http://www.rootsweb.com/~ilkendal/Cemeteries/ContiguousCemeteries.htm Good Hunting, Kathy

Am I understanding correctly that you have the transcription of Klinger Cemetery in Manhattan Twp.? If I misunderstood, please accept my apology. My gr-gr-gr-grandfather had a farm in Manhattan Twp. His name was Thomas WALLACE, he died 26 Feb 1887 at his son's home in Joliet. Sadly, no information I have on his death tells where he was buried. I was just HOPING he might be buried in Manhattan Twp. His wife Esther died between the 1860 Census and 26 Feb 1887. This is probably a looooooooooooooong shot. Thank you! 3. For Missy, There are two cemeteries in Crete township named: 1.-Trinity Lutheran(section 16-Zion Lytheran cem. also here))located one mile south of Crete on Halsted Ave ?Is this the one you went too? 2.-Trinity Lutheran(new)(section 19)Located on Monee Road Neither is called CRETE cemetery-that is a different one located (section 8) on Exchange & Vincennes Roads in the village of Crete. Could it be that her death certificate reads buried Crete and not specifically Crete cemetery? In the obit of Louise Cording you put up on 24 Aug 2000 Mention is made of St. James Hospital-that is in Chicago Heights(Cook County) and directly north of Crete-Monee area. Also mentions that she was born in Black Walnut, buried Zion Lutheran. Could it be that Black Walnut location is in southern Cook County on the county line with Will(Crete/Monee area)? OR according to the 1878 history of will county-10 or 12 sections of crete township were originally woodlands..most cut down to build with by 1878. I could not find a mention of Black Walnut as an early name for a location in Crete, Monee or Washington township. Because of the location of Crete-Monee-bounded on the north by cook county,on the east by Indiana state line,on the south by washington township and the west by monee township..it is possible that Black Walnut is in Indiana, just over the line. I found the following that might help. OHLENDORF,Johann F.C. married Will County MEIER, Catherine M.D. date 15 Nov 1855 1860 census, will county index Monee township OLDENDORF,John F.,page 446 1870 cenindex cook county, hanover township OLTENDROP Fred page 178 1920 census index will county-heads of households OLDENDORF William, age 46,Crete Henry age 47,Monee Dietrich, age 40,Washington cook county 1920 index head of household OLDENDORF Fred age 54,Rich township will county death index 1877-1915 OHLENDORF Aug age 54 yrs died 3 jun 1891 crete buried crete township Heinrich age 59yrs died 25 may 1888 crete buried crete township Wilhelmina age 71yr1mo7days died 23 dec 1906 crete twp buried eagle lake cem., washington twp Louisa age 68yr9mo23days died 7 jul 1914 crete buried eagle lake cem.,washington twp OLDENDORF J.F.(Mr) age 73yrs2mo6days died 19 jul 1905 monee buried crete township other misspellings of surname I found OLDENDORPH,OLTENDORP. A suggestion; Try to locate probate records for your ancestors. Because they are of German ancestry-should be a very good "proof of heirship" or letters of administration giving relationships, dates and places. would be at the will county courthouse, clerk of the circuit court office,14 west jefferson st.,joliet,il hope this helps kathy

My great great grandmother's Catharina Maria Oldendorf's death certificate says that she was to be buried in Crete Cemetery. Her grandson says she is buried in Trinity/ Black Walnut Cemetery. I did a walk through of both cemeteries when I was in Illinois last month and couldn't find her. Her husband is buried at Trinity/ Black Walnut and has a tombstone that could be inscribed on all four sides. The stone was tipped over and all I could get was his dates. There was nothing inscribed on the sides. Does anybody know where I could find burial records or is the cemetery abandoned? It was faster when I sent a internet copy of the record index to them. 3. Hello List Members, Thanks to all of you for your help to Kyle in his search for McClintocks in Will County. This is a great list! I thought that you might want to know that we have made a connection, although we are not sure about the relationship yet. I have the funeral card for his ggg-grandfather, William McCLINTOCK in my possession. My gg-grandmother, Mary McClintock EATON had the card in her possessions and it was handed down through my grandmother to me. I have been tracking William McClintock with the idea that he may be Mary's brother. We are still not sure of the relationship, but there is definitely a connection. Thanks again for your kindness. 3. Kyle, Do you know anything about Joseph Carson McClintock and Alice Green? I am researching my Eaton/McClintock line in Kendall and Will County. Daniel J. Eaton and Mary McClintock immigrated to America from Ireland in 1851. I have a funeral card for William McClintock, whom I believe is Mary's brother. In the 1880 census William is listed married to Ann and has five sons, one of who is a Joseph age 16. Could this be your line? Looking forward to hearing from you. If you want the details of the census, let me know. - Karen ----- Original Message ----- From: Kyle Severson <pianoman14@attbi.com> To: <ILWILL-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, August 10, 2002 7:29 AM Subject: [ILWILL] McClintock & Calais > Does anyone have any info on these individuals? He married Mildred Louise Calais Jan. 18, 1917 (place unknown). Mildred was born to Alfred E. Calais and Lillian May Johnson on Sept. 23, 1893 in Troy Twp., Will. She died July 13, 1997 in Joliet. Even if you can just re-affirm these dates write to me. The two places would be most helpful to know. 1. [ILWILL] 1910 Census on Ancestry.com
    2. Art H.
    3. FYI: Some months ago, it was reported that 1910 census reel 333 was missing from the Ancestry.com images. It held all of White Co. plus EDs 142-152 and 183-197 for Will Co. Checking today, it looks like these images are now available. No idea how long they've been up. Crete, Florence twp, Jackson twp, Channahon twp, etc.

    1. [ILWILL] CLOSE family - New Lenox, IL.
    2. K&D Lawrence
    3. Hi Listers - I am still trying to find my CLOSE family who lived in Joliet in 1930 and then in New Lenox in 1945 and 1951. The two CLOSE's listed in the online phonebook in Joliet belong to a different CLOSE family. In the 1930 census, George J. CLOSE, age 31, was working as a "Radiotrician" at a Department Store in Joliet. He was married to Sadie, age 31, and they had a daughter Janice A. CLOSE age 1 yr and three months, so she would have been born about January 1929. There may have been more children in this family, born after 1930. If any one knows of this family, I would love to hear from you, - Karen in BC Canada
