    1. [ILWILL] Channahon Twp. Militia Roll
    2. ladyminx
    3. Goodevening group! Well, I'm finally back after 2 years .. can't believe it took me this long to get back! I hope this find you all healthy and in good spirits. I exchanged an email with Michele Houchens back in 2002 about the militia roll. At the time I was looking for any Mannings, and thanks to you all, found a John Hennesy married to one of my kin, Hannah Manning. In looking at these records again for the last few weeks, it has dawned on me there is another brother that I've been missing all this time. Michael Manning, Jr. Michele found a Michael Manning on the 2nd reserve list as a John Henesy and I'm wondering if this could be him. So my question, is to get alittle more info on this militia roll. I did a lookup on the IRAD site and came up with a few Michael Mannings, and also a few Henesy, but they aren't listed in the same unit. Should I just blindly send away for civil war packets on the Michael Manning's I did find, hoping that one of them is mine? The first one I'm going to do is the one that resides in Joliet, keeping my fingers crossed :) Thanks for any help! Lori

    1. Re: [ILWILL] Hasemann surname help
    2. For Tom, Try different spellings of the surname or if searching ancestry, use the soundex instead of the HASEMAN spelling. Such as HASEMANN,HASSEMANN,HAUSSEMANN and then drop the double letters s and n and try again. 1. [ILWILL] "LOST GRADS"- an e-mail address ILWILL-D Digest V02 #114
    2. meredith campbell
    3. Hello everybody, I'm new to the list so thought I should introduce myself. I lived in New Lenox 1945-60 and attended JTHS, 1950-54. Before then, I was one of the last classes to attend historic Schmul School-1945-50. A one-room school house it stood then about 2 miles east of New Lenox. The county has moved it to Frankfort, I believe, where they will show it off as an attraction, "the last of Illinois' one-room school houses." Around 1960 my family moved back to Richmond, Virginia from "whence we "cometh." I live here now and am a novelist and an amateur genealogist. I do mainly Revolutionary and Civil War research and have done so allllll the way back with my own family, but I will help anyone who might need "look-ups" in Virginia. I come to this list because I am Coordinator of the Search Team to find those graduates for whom the Reunion Committee in Joliet have no addresses. I mentioned our upcoming 50th in my first message to this group. The Search Team has found nearly all the still-living males with published phone numbers. Only a few of these "lost" guys remain unfound. However, the "lost" girls have presented a major problem, as you can imagine. Marriages, divorces, deaths, causing name changes have proved to be a huge headache. So please, if any of you on this list has any ideas, or recognize any of the names on the list I posted yesterday, please contact me. If you prefer not posting to the list my e-mail address IS accessible although in this morning's digest half of it is cut off. 3. I have a 1942 death certificate for a John F. Ball that lists his burial as follows: Cemetery: "Local" Location: "Lockport" County: "Will" Would this necessarily be the "Lockport Cemetery" in section 23, or could it be one of several? Does anyone know if the burials at this cemetery are indexed or transcribed or photographed somewhere? I am looking mainly for the Ball surname and I suspect that more of the family is at the same cemetery as John. Thanks for any information.
