    2. I am trying to contact [email protected] who posted a query on June, 1,1997, about FEIGEL,CHRISTIAN. When I was looking up archives for Will County, I found this listed. " I'm in hopes that someone might have some suggestions on my research for my great-grandfathers place of death. Christian Feigel was a coal miner, living, and working in Coal City, Ill." Other information in the query definately tells me we are from the same genealogy line. If anyone knows of Sheree F. Van, please have her contact me at [email protected] Thank you. Arlene Crowfoot

    3. Does anyone know anything about the family of William J. VANDERGERBOGART/Van der BOGART, or any variation of this spelling? In 1860 he was age 40, wife Adeline age 28, both born in New York. On the 1860 Will County, IL. census, they with children James, Robert and Hellen, appear to be living in the same household as my great-grandfather, Anasa (?) ('Nacy') Harrison JONES and family, in Florence Twp., dwelling 256 and family 420. I'd certainally like to know who they were and why they were living with Nacy JONES and family. Or was this a census taker's error? Any help on the family of Nacy (Anasa) Harrison JONES and his parents James and Mary JONES, would be appreciated. Thank you. 1. Re: [ILWILL-L] BISSELL....RICHARDS
    2. In a message dated 98-12-15 13:43:37 EST, you write: << Our search is ultimately to find the parentage of Pierce B. Bissell...born about 1817-20....possibly Michigan...but also possibly NY. There are no clues of his sibblings other than the slight one for Mary A. mentioned earlier. >> Julie, Your email caught my attention with the Richard surname, but as I read further and saw Herkimer co., NY then my interest changed to your Bissell surname. I thought I had seen that name on the Dutch-Colonies list, but I checked the archives and did not find it. It may have been on a New Jersey list. Anyways, if Your Pierce Bissell is from New York there is a chance he did move to Ill for family reasons. My Van Horne's moved to Will co. from Montgomery co., NY. So I checked "Our Van Horne Kindred" by Elsie O. Hollenbeck and found, something for you to keep in your notes in case it might help in the future. Edgar R. Van Horne b. 21 Jun 1812 m. (1) Julia Bisslee (2) Harriet Bissell Edgar's parents were Abram D. Van Horne b. 26 Jun 1783 and Bertha Edgar of NJ. They lived in Madison county, NY He was an attorney and also served as an Assemblyman from his county for several. years. Abram D. Van Horne's parents were: Abram Van Horne and Hannah Huff. They ended up in Tyron co., NY. They are very distant cousins to my Will county, IL Van Horne's, but someday we might find a connection. By the way, my Will county Van Horne's are: Cornelius Covenhoven Van Horne m. (1) Elizabeth Veeder both from New York. He married (2) Mary Mariah RICHARDS (they married in Porter co., IN). Cornelius was the first mayor of Joliet. Good luck, Lisa

    1. [ILWILL-L] BISSELL....RICHARDS
    2. Seeking ANY information about a Pierce B. BISSELL family in the 1850 census Joliet, Will Co. We have the data from the census entry itself....and know he moved there in about 1849 to early 1850 from Rock Island....and just as mysteriously moved back to Rock Island Co in about 1853. His wife was Sarah (nee VANBOSKIRK/ VANBUSKIRK). I suspected a relationship with the David RICHARDS family next door....esp through the wife Mary A...as possibly his sister..but recently found records indicate her maiden name was LARRAWAY....she and David both being from Herkimer Co, NY. I guess I shouldn't still rule her out...there are many coincidences going on here....Pierce's mother could have remarried to a Larraway and had Mary A. Our search is ultimately to find the parentage of Pierce B. Bissell...born about 1817-20....possibly Michigan...but also possibly NY. There are no clues of his sibblings other than the slight one for Mary A. mentioned earlier. We have wondered if Pierce moved his family to Joliet because of family....possibly an aging mother, the possible sister connection.....whatever...it remains a mystery. So many of the names on the pages surrounding Pierce's 1850 entry have appeared to look promising.....but we don't have family enough info to even discard them. One more piece of evidence.....when they did move back to Rock Island Co....in the next census of 1860....Sarah was head of household...Pierce was listed....with the occupation of a peddlar....but the addition notation, "insane due to religious excitement". Though Pierce had previously owned property in Rock Island...making government land purchases in about 1839 Oct.....the land was sold before the move to Joliet and he never owned land again that we know of....all family property was in his wife, Sarah's name from then on. We suspect that he became affiliated with one of two churches while over in Joliet....either the Mormans....or a church known as the Swedenborgian church. There was a MARTIN in Joliet....he appears in histories and biographys of Will Co or Joliet history...he was a developer/industrialist...and was extremely wealthy for the time. He gave most of his vast wealth to the SWEDEBORGIAN CHURCH upon his death. It is possible that Pierce has a connection somehow to this family..possibly to a dead Uncle of Martins.....and that the move BACK to Rock Island was an attempt to keep Pierce from giving away the family money. We have yet to find anything on the dead uncle either...those reords probably being back in NY in an unknown county. Sorry for the long post....this is a search of over 30 years...with many people's efforts....we're all tired...and would like an early Christmas gift....some little tidbit of info on Pierce to unlock the mystery. 3. Tanna, I happen to have the 1st edition of the CD if you'd like me to look up someone's marriage for you, or if you want to purchase the latest CD, you can contact the Illinois State Genealogical Society, PO Box 10195, Springfield, IL 62791-0195, and request Update #1 to Illinois Marriage Records Index, $39 for members and $47 for non-members. As to dates, it varies from county to county. In the 1st edition of the CD, some counties are completed, some are partially completed and some counties are not included as yet. Will Co is listed as "completed" with marriages from 1836-1900. Susan Bryson wrote: > Hi Susan, > I read your E-mail to Aleita King-Huguenin and I am interested in the > list of marriage in Illinois. 1. [ILWILL-L] Will County Marriage Records -- Help!
    2. I have found that Will County is often not included in Family CDs etc. I also found that when visited the Joliet County Clerk office two summers ago that the clerk showed me a "new" computer list of all the old marriage records by bride and groom. (She said that a local woman who had an interest in genealogy had put the list together and they were just beginning to use it. It was very well done.) This could help alot of us out-of-state researchers! Questions: Is this list available to purchase? Is it "posted" anywhere but the clerk's office? Ideas? You never know what I > can do here in Holland! > Thanks again, > denise Hi Denise, I had an opportunity to be in the area of the library today. I checked the soundex for the 1880 census in Illinois. This would include Joliet, Will Co., Ill. I didn't have time to lookup the film of the census. If either of these families are what you are looking for, I'll make copies of the census page(s) next time. I thought I would start in the 1880 census and build on that list of names. If I am understanding your E-mail, it is possible that one of Bernards son could be your grandmother's father. If I find your grandmother and Edna listed in the 1900 census with one of Bernards sons that should help you. The spelling for Mideke was a little different than yours, as you know many times the census taker wasn't always correct in their spelling. So I have listed below the two families I found. Note that they were not living in Joliet. I do not know where Clinton or Stephenson counties are or if your family could have come from Prussia. 1. MEDDEKE, Bernard: Vol 5, Ed 82, Sheet 1, Line 13 White, Male, 58 year old, place of birth Prussia Residence in Bruse Twp.
