Kathy, I'm new to searching for ancestors. I am looking for David C. or L. Robinson in Will County, IL. I have an old prayer book dated 1854 with that name, may great, great grandfather. I see you do some research. Do you research other than your own relations? Would you be willing to look into Robinsons in Will County or tell me how to go about it. Thanks, Rick ---------- > From: Zavada <[email protected]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: Re: [ILWILL-L] Look-Ups-Chadwick-McCray > Date: Friday, January 29, 1999 9:00 AM > > Mike, > There's no listing for a death of Sarah McCray(or variant spellings) in the > illinois state death index Doesn't mean there isn't a death cert. Kathy Again I thank you for your help, I also have no problem and am willing to pay you for your help. I have( thanks to you) much info on the Hatfield side, but still need to get pass my gggrandfather Van Buren McCray. What help can you provide, I would like a copy of Edward's death cert., possible it gives more info on his father. Also I believe VB died about 1911 in Grundy, any help there? Mike
Mike, There's no listing for a death of Sarah McCray(or variant spellings) in the illinois state death index Doesn't mean there isn't a death cert. Just means she's not listed. You'll have to contact both Grundy and Will County clerk's and request a search and pay the fee. There is a death listed in the state index for Edward on 22 May 1922 in Morris city, Grundy County. My guess would be that Sarah died there also. There are 7 marriages McCray listed in will county(edward's and Van Buren's included). The others are Hannah in 1866,Ion in 1868,J.H. in 1857,Mary in 1852,Robert in 1881.Edward's in 1895 may list parents names and other info. You want copies?Because I have already given you an hour of free research in Sept.,I charge from there on. Current rate is $6 per hour plus costs of copying and mailing. Kathy

Krista, I'm guessing, but you appear to be E-mailing from Regina, SA., and although you have come to the right place for your Will County, IL information, are you aware of the Ontario Gen Web, address follows: http://www.multiboard.com/~spettit/ongenweb/ The Ontario Genealogical Society is perhaps the best in Canada. Good Luck, Al Folkers >I am looking for a George Thomas Robertson born in Will County, Illinois, >in 1881. > >His father was Alexander Gordon Robertson, and his mother was Elizabeth >Grant. > >To our knowledge, they did leave the area and went to Ontario, Canada. > >Any information would be greatly appreciated. > >Thanks > >Krista Embertson > > > >
I am looking for a George Thomas Robertson born in Will County, Illinois, in 1881. His father was Alexander Gordon Robertson, and his mother was Elizabeth Grant. To our knowledge, they did leave the area and went to Ontario, Canada. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Krista Embertson
Hello! Are any of these surnames ones you are researching in Will County 1840-on? FINNEY, SPRINGER, HOFFMAN, BARR, JONES, HOOD, GAWTHROP, PHELPS, SWIVAL, McAFEE. FINNEY and SPRINGER(HOFFMAN) are the names of the two wives of Nacy 'Anassa?' Harrison JONES, a farmer, who lived in Florence and Jackson Townships, Will County, in the time period of 1855 until his death in 1876. BARR is the married name of a sister of my great-grandmother, Margaret G. SPRINGER/Hoffman (widow of Jerry HOFFMAN), who was the second wife of my great-grandfather, Nacy H. JONES. The other surnames are the names of the spouses of Nacy's children by his first wife, Rachel FINNEY, who died in Will County in 1860. Margaret SPRINGER JONES' mother Rachel SPRINGER, widow of Enoch SPRINGER of Cape May County, NJ, also lived in Will County for a while with her youngest son Robert SPRINGER. Later they moved to Fayette County, IL. Robert died, unmarried, in Tennesse during the Civil War. After Nacy's death, Margaret moved to Fayette County, IL., with her JONES children and married Thomas KEEN, a Clay and Fayette County farmer and land owner. I have info to share on these families. Joanne (JONES) Lehman in Orange, CA at [email protected]
For many years I have tried to find a record of my great-grand mother's death. My aunt always said that Mary S.Flagg Johnson died in 1896. She was buried in Willmington according to family history. I now have found in some heirship papers that she died in Sept. 1904. The markers in the cemetery have been broken off and I understand that the cemetery records burned. Are there any vital records that might help??????? Thanks Julie Rouse
My great grandparents, Sophia Thurnau and Wilhelm Busse married 14 May 1882 at St. Johns, Eagle Lake, Beecher, Will Co., IL. Seeking information on their parents and siblings. I do not find them in the church records after their marriage. Any clues will be greatly appreciated! Pat Mount
Thank you for your help, I have received several variations of the recipe from around the globe. I am sharing them with mail list friends who would like them. Just drop me a note requesting them. Looking for any info on Edward McCray and Mary Mosley They were married in Will county on May 25, 1895 Any info would be appreciated Mike McCray
Mike, Didn't I already do a lot of work for you on The McCray-Hatfield's? At least I remember sending you census, etc. Try getting the probate record where ever they died. Grundy county is quite co operative. Will county is not as helpful but they both have indexes to early probate records. Kathy
Morning Sheri, There is another person doing research on PERONA(among others) His name is Barry his e mail address [email protected] I have done some work for him. He may be able to help you. I will look through what I have on PERONAS and send you what I have. Kathy Zavada
I do not have a death cert. on Eliza, her husband remarried in 1899, so I'm guessing that she died sometime after 1886. Thomas was buried in Braidwood, I'm assuming the same cemetery as his wife, Oakwood. I would appreciate obits for all concern and any other info you can find regarding them. They would not be on the 1860 censusas they were not in this country until 1870, their death cert. state they were in country 41 years in 1911. A. Patterson was the undertaker for both Chadwicks. I am also at a brick wall with my g-g- grandfather and mother Van Buren McCray and Sarah Hatfield McCray. I believe she died in Grundy County on Nov. 18, 1915, but it also could be Will. Thanks Mike
Morning Mike, Do you want the marriage license? Did you check for a death cert. on Eliza? If you have thos. death cert.,where was he buried? Do you want obits if available? What else do you want? My fees-first hour is free, then $6 per hour after that. I usually can get marriages, deaths and 1860 census returns in one hour. Kathy Zavada
I am researching my family history and need help. My great-great-grandparents emigrated to America from Ireland, by way of England, in about 1870. Their names were Thomas Chadwick and Savina or Sadina Tichbourne ( Tichboun). Their daughter, my great grandmother, Was named Eliza Chadwick, born in England in about 1865. She married my great grandfather, Robert McCray, in Braidwood, on May 12, 1881. The Chadwick's both died in 1911, in Braidwood. Sadina on June 27th and Thomas on Dec. 15th. The only other piece of info I have , is a possible son, John Chadwick, who was the informant on Thomas's death certificate. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Mike McCray
I am looking for information on the Perona family. My connection is James Perona and his wife Katherine Augustino. Their oldest son, Peter, was born in Will Co in 1883. James and Katherine were in Will Co from around 1880 to 1886. They were in Barton Co MO by 1887 as their next child, John, was born there. Any ideas or suggestions on where to look are appreciated. Thanks, Sheri
