To All Whom It May Concern: Please be informed that you can now search part of The DESCRIPTIVE & HISTORICAL REGISTER of Enlisted Soldiers in the U.S. Army,.... for free at: The Buffalo Barracks Historical Web Site [ http://www.buffalonet.org/army ] This is an outstanding web site which includes the records of over 1,650 soldiers from all States and Territories who either served at, enlisted at, reenlisted at, or were discharged at the short lived Buffalo Barracks federal military post, between 1835 and 1846. Many of the men listed fought in the Florida Indian Wars, the War with Mexico, and then the Civil War. Perhaps you have an ancestor who was at the Buffalo Barracks? Discover how tall he was; the color of his hair and eyes; his age; where he was born; and even the complexion of his skin.....and more! I am looking for anyone with information on the Arathusia Doolittle in Joliet, 1850 census and her family. In her household was also a son , William, and her father, Levi Cole (88 years old, born NH). I dod know that she was the wife of an Elijah Doolittle. I have information on Levi Cole...his wife and their deaths...and where they came from. I am looking for information on Levi Cole's first daughter., Lydia, born 1785, ...who would have been Arathusias's half sister. Lydia's mother was a Lydia Pierce, who apparently died about 1786 plus or minus a year. Who did she marry and where?
My grandmother, Catherine Ann McCANN was born in March of 1879 in Joliet, IL. I'm looking for any information about her. I don't have her parents names or her siblings, so I'm hopefull someone out there has heard of this name. She married Thomas Alexander Vint in 1904 and they lived in Kinsman, IL after they were married. Any help at all will be greatly appreciated. Would I be able to obtain a birth certificate from that year? Mary Kay in Iowa [email protected]
If anyone has the census for 1880, 1890, I would appreciate a look-up. August or Gustav KLATT. Thank you. Sherry

I need to find parents of Mary Jane Barlow in the 1860 or 1870 census for Will County. She was born in 1855 so would have been 5 in 1860; 15 in 1870. Does anyone have a census index for these two census'? Thanks, Maggie
There is a Wilmington in Will County, Sharon in Surprise, AZ
Hi, I can't tell you if Wiliington is in Will County. However, here is the address I wrote to to get the Civil war Regiment list for IL: The address is IRAD-Regional History Center, Swen parson Hall, Northern Illinois University, DekKalb, IL 60115. This list will give you the Regiment he served in and the Muster and Descriptive Roll list will give you the date and place where he was mustered out. The next step is to write to the National Archives, Textual Reference Branch (NNR1), 7th and Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20408 and ask for form 80. This is the to order copies of Veterans Records. Request both Military and Pension records. Although, the records may or may not give the name of his parents. If you know where your gggrandfather was married, send for the marriage certificate. This usually gives the name of the parents and the place of birth. Hi; I just joined and the first messages I received were answers about Minards in Crete. If the interested party will contact me, I have G. W. MINARD's birth, parents, wife and a short bio. Ida RODRICK WIESE
Dear list members; I have just joined to see if anyone can tell me more on Mary KOEPKE SCHLOTTMANN BLOCK. What I know; b 1841 Germany, siblings Christian and Doretta, emigrated 1853 with parents , John KOEPKE and Doretta RANDT. Married 1st, Christian SCHLOTTMANN before 1865 in IL., date and place unknown. He died 1871, age 47. They had children Henry, Christ, Lena and George, plus 1 other dau who drowned as a small child. This occurred in Green Garden Township. Married 2nd John BLOCK, date unknown, and had children William and Charles. Mary was murdered at age 45 in 1886, apparently in a murder/suicide. This occurred in Green Garden Township. What I want; Was there any newspaper that might have any mention of the baby's death and/or most particularly the murder of Mary? Would any obituaries be available for any of these people? I have checked cemetery records, and also wrote to the (now) churches in the area without getting any reply. If there was any newspaper back then, has it been indexed, or could anyone check for Mary's death? Any further info on Mary, her parents, her husbands or children would be most welcome. I do have the Will County History book of 1878. My husband is descended from Mary and Christian Schlottmann through their son George. Thank you all for any help on this. Ida RODRICK WIESE-Minnesota

I have a relative that lived in Crete and is listed on the 1920 IL census with the occupation of Car Inspector at the Railroad Yards. Does anyone have any suggestions on where I should start to find information on the railroad yards? Thanks, Joan
Looking for any information on the MINARD family that lived in Crete. Franklin B. Minard born 1870, Grant Park, IL Annie J. Burville Minard born August 31,1871, Crete, IL Merwin born 1896, IL Harriet born 1897, IL Lorenzo born 1899, IL Marjorie born 1905, IL Franklin born 1910, IL Everette born 1911, IL
Good morning, There were Minard's in Crete as early as 1850. A G. W. MINARD was paid $1.00 from the estate of my 3rd great-grandfather William KEENEY on or about 5 April 1850. In the booklet "Crete Township Will County Illinois Census 1850" read by Gertrude W. Lundberg and sold by South Suburban Genealogical and Historical Society there is a listing for MINARD, George W. physician, 25 (born) NY/Melissa, 23, (born) NY. In the booklet "Crete Cemetery Corner of Exchange St. and Vincennes Ave." also published by SSG&HS: In lot 39 of the original section: Minard, Dr. Geo. W. Lot 39 - Orig. b. August 16, 1845 (I estimated date from age at death) d. 7 July 1883, aged 37 years, 10 mos. 21 days. Also Minard, Mellicent b. 7 Feb. 182-, d. 25 June 1903. In the Spring 1990 quarterly of SSG&HS is a 3 page article on the Burville family and their obituaries. A pallbearer for Lorenzo D. Burville in Sept. 1918 was a Frank Minard. When Harriet Cool Burville died Oct. 5 1918 her survivors include a daughter Annie J. (Mrs. Franklin B. Minard). Two of the pallbearers were Frank Minard and a grandson Loren Minard. Hope this helps you out. Sharon in Surprise, Az. http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/g/a/l/Sharon-H-Galitz/index.html
Is their anyone that can check the 1865 census? Or tell me where to write for the information. I'm trying to find out more information on my G-Grandparents - Thomas Branton & Josephine Russell. They were married 4 July 1865 in Will Co. Would very much appreciate any help you can give. Caren Searching for 22 years
I am searching for any information as to my GGrandparents who were married in Braidwood on the 3rd July 1890. Their names were William Bilton born in 1862 in the UK Mary Jane Nutt born in 1871 in the UK The June 1900 census return shows them living in Reid along with 3 children and John Nutt (father of Mary Jane Nutt) In addition I believe that Mary Jane's brother William and family were also living in Will County. By earlier 1904, William Bilton plus 3 children have returned to the UK and remarried, according to family stories his wife having died. I have been unable to find when Mary Jane died or the subsequent history of John, her father or William her brother. Any information welcomed. Regards Alan Bilton Devizes Wilts UK
