There is no big hurry -- but whenever you get a chance, I would appreciate the following: BLOTNIK -- BUBASDH -- BYRNE -- DOYLE -- KUCINIC -- LEMKE -- MANDELLA -- MARINAK -- MROZEK -- PAVLICH -- PENDZISZEWSKI -- RYBA -- STRONG -- STRYSIK (and has been spelled STRECIC/STRICIC/STRYCICK) July is not our best time of the year for flowering shrubs and bushes but not a bad time to be here -- before the hot weather really arrives. We have a (at least) 50-year old Live Oak in our back yard and it is just beautiful. A little too close to the house but it helps with shading the house so the electricity is not so bad. <VBG> I have the 1930 microfilm for Chicago and Peoria that is in alphabetical order by streets which then will give the enumeration district so if you need any look ups for those areas, just let me know. In fact, Wichita, KS and Baltimore, MD are also on the film roll. Again, thanks -- have a great Memorial Day Holiday and -- whenever you get the chance. 3. Hello Walter: I don't have any info on the Rathje genealogy but I can tell you that in 1855 was organized the Zion Evangelical Church. It is now the Zion Lutheran Church of Peotone, 108 W. Main St., Peotone, IL. 60468 - 708-258-9136; and also, in 1866 was organized the St. John's German Evangelical Church. It is now the Immanuel United Church of Christ, 311 W. Corning Ave., Peotone, IL. 60468 - 708-258-6966. Hope this helps. 3. All, I'm asking if SKS could double check the genealogy info I've compiled in reviewing the RATHJE family in the Village of Peotone, Will County, Illinois: I note that (possibly) Frederick, Sr., Frederick, wife, Lotta (Narges), 2d wife Marguetha (Fink), Frederick & Lotta's kids Henry, Louis, Sophia, & offspring w/ Marguetha, Clara & Lydia, all attended Peotone's Lutheran (later Evangelical & Reformed) Church, ca 1864 thru __? Also attending Peotone's Lutheran Church were Henry & his wives, 1st Willhelmina (Luhman), & children, Edward, Anna, Walter & Herman, & 2d Catherine (Koenecke), & their offspring, Emma, Otto, Paul, Ester. Is this data correct according to your research? I didn't find any mention of the Lutheran, or Evangelical & Reformed Church, which I believe was the 1st or 2d church built in Peotone ca 1859. Do you know where it was, when the name was changed to Evangelical & Reformed? Many Thanx for your help, & we have to get together this spring, Wally God Bless America Walter (Joan) X. McElligott P. 3. For Walter, Will county wasn't formed until mid 1830's from Cook county and several others. Therefore, newspapers didn't exist for will county before then. Earliest newspapers would be at Joliet Public Library(downtown)reference department and date from mid 1840's. You could also check with illinois state library to see what newspapers they have. There are local newspapers within will county with various start dates. Wilmington library has newspapers that start mid 1860's Manhattan library has a local newspaper starts after 1900-1920 Crete library has some Braidwood (Fossil Ridge)Library has some Frankfort Library has one starts ?mid 1900's published from Mokena. Probate records in will county are your best bet for early genealogy info-they start in will county in about 1837. For earlier ones, check the counties that will was formed from(except cook-those were destroyed in the 1871 chicago fire). Probate records are located in the county courthouse-clerk of the circuit court. Probate records of German ancestors are usually quite good with providing proof of heirship and letters of administration which give lots of genealogy info. There are death certs available for the following RATHJA Fred A.age 55yr4mo died 24jan1882 Peotone buried wilton twp RATHKE Catherine age 42yrs died 20dec1892 florence twp buried same place Margaret age 72yr4mo1day died 24jan1906 Peotone buried Peotone twp. cem.
