I am new to this list and am hoping someone would be so kind as to perform some census lookups for me. I will list as much information as I know - hopefully this may help. First, Walter Harmon and Azubah Hyde were married 5 Feb 1818 in New Marlborough, Berkshire, Mass. Walter was probably born in 1798 in same location. Per Ancestry.com, he is listed on the 1860 IL Federal Census in Hopkins Township on page 816. Per the Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales Database, he is listed in 1849 as having purchased property in Whiteside Co, with adjoining tracts going to son Porter Joseph Harmon, and Hiram Harmon (unsure of relationship to Walter). Secondly, Porter Joseph Harmon was born 14 May 1819 in New Marlborough, Berkshire, Mass. Porter was married 25 Nov 1848 to a Rebecca Armstrong (possibly 2nd wife, d. March 1876) and they had a son, Walter Harmon, b. 19 Feb 1857 and a daughter Adaline. I believe their may have been as many as six other children to this marriage. In 1880, Porter remarried a Margaret Houston and per the marriage record, Porter's residence was listed as Mt. Pleasant. Walter (b. 1857) married Fannie Arnold 16 Feb, 1882. They had one child, Edward Joseph b. 9 Jan 1883 before moving on to the Clark Co. area of South Dakota. I believe Porter may have gone with them to SD. I would like any census information available on Walter (b. 1818) and Porter between 1850 and 1880. Please know that any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. Tracy Glatz [email protected]
