Looking for information on Emily Buckingham who was married to Jeremiah Bothwell in Clinton, IA, on March 29, 1873, about a year after Jeremiah divorced his first wife, Sarah, in Whiteside Co. Jeremiah lived in Garden Plain/Albany and apparently did a lot of trading in land starting as early as 1843, according to records in the Coounty Recorder's office in Morrison. The last land record we've been able to find with Jeremiah's name on it was a sale from him to William Bothwell for $2000 on Aug. 16, 1875 (book 77, page 377) in which Emily's name also is mentioned. There also is a record of a sale from Emily Bothwell, Eugene & Martha Buckingham of Clinton, and Ella and John Goffrey Stillwater of Washington Co., MN to Don G. Buckingham on Oct. 9, 1883 (book 165, page 128). After that, nothing. Could this Emily Buckingham have been the widow of Gilbert Buckingham? There's an entry in the statewide marriage index showing Emily Bowers married Gilbert Buckingham 27 Apr 1846 in Lee County, Illinois. Any help/suggestions greatly appreciated. Kearney Bothwell -- The truth is out there? Does anyone know the URL?
