I know it was a UB church, and changed to a Methodist church, but looking for land information.
According to "Cemetery Records of East Jordan Cemetery", Whiteside County Genealogists, 1992, page iii: "The following information is copied directly from an old handwritten history written in the early part of this century---- [The new church referred to below wwas to replace the one on the southwest corner of the intersection which had been damaged quite badly by a windstorm. The new building was placed on the northeast corner of the intersection. It had been a Methodist Episcopal Church up to the time of its being damaged. As noted below, it was a non-denominational church for a while, but in 1909 it was 'deeded to the trustees of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ,' one of the forerunner denominations of the present United Methodist Church. the word 'deeded' here refers to the trust clause in the deed, not a transfer of property. This is still the case in all United Methodist churches today.] "About September 1, 1876 a new board of trustees was selected by the people of the community to erect a new Church Building. At this meeting it was voted to call the new church when erected 'The East Jordan Union Church' and was to be used by any Protestant Denomination who wished to pay a pastor to preach in it. Three years prior to this Robert Anderson and wife had deeded two and one half acres of ground in the southwest corner of Section Twelve, being across the corner from the church, for cemetery purposes. The following Trustees elected for the new church were also made the trustees of the cemetery viz; Archibald Maxwell, David Anderson, Nelson B. Kidder, John R. Jacob, Henry Hay, Ruben Warner and Isaac Burger. The deed to the cemetery lot was given to the trustees of The Methodist Episcopal Church on April 2, 1869, and by them deeded to the new board of the Union Church on September 23, 1876. The erection of the new church was begun in the spring of 1877, arrangements having been made to place the building on the corner of the cemetery lot. At an adjourned meeting of the trustees of the East Jordan Union Church held on Jan. 13, 1909 all of the trustees begin present (sic) a quit claim deed was given to the trustees of the East Jordan Cemetery, a corporation, all of the land on which the cemetery is situated except a parcel one hundred by one hundred twenty-five feet on which the East Jordan Church stands. Then at a meeting held on jan 27, 1909, the trustees deeded to the trustees of the Church of the United Brethren in Christ the church building and lot on which it stands...." (Russell F. Dawn, Would there be any objection to my placing this information on my Whiteside County Website? I'm sure others would be interested.
