Hi, I am new to your list and wonder if you can help me. I am looking at this family- James Dyer Law b 1827 m Sarah Minerva Newman on 1-7-1841 in Carroll Co. They had son James Monroe Law on 10-13-1864 in Morrisberg, Whiteside Co. What I am looking for is confirmation on Sarah's parents. In the 1850 census for Carroll Co there is a Levi and Catharine listed with their children still at home. Sarah is not listed because she would have already been married. My instincts tell me that they are her parents but wondered if anyone in Illinois could help me confirm that or had any other info. Thanks so much, Marcia K

Marcia, Get online and look up the phone number for any of the LAW family in Whitside County - There are so many of them, you can't stir them with a stick. They all live in Sterling and Rock Falls. I bought my last car from one of them - but I doubt if he knows anything about his family - except that they have been in Whiteside County for generations. There is a Newman High School in Sterling. The Newman family is another old name in the county.
