Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Il/Whiteside/10826 Surname: Kane, Roark, McGrath, Miller ------------------------- I recognize your Roark-Kane connection. James ROARK was the son of James ROARK (1833-1901, b. Ireland) and Ann McGRATH (1826-1896). According to his entry in the 1900 census, James ROARK Sr. immigrated to US from Ireland in 1855 (in 1900 census, enumerated in household of his daughter and son-in-law, Harriet and John F. Miller: Roark, James Father-in-law W M About 70 wd Ireland Ireland Ireland 1855 40). James and Ann are buried in the Calvary Cemetery in Sterling, Whiteside County, IL. According to info I received from a cousin's research and from miscellaneous other sources, their children were: Albert (birthdate unknown); John, b. 1854; James, b. 1856 (yours); Thomas, b. 1858; Henry, b. 1860; Mary A., b. 1863; Emma and Harriet (twins), b. Nov. 1864; and Eugene, b. 1867. I'm descended from Harriet ("Hattie"), who married John F. MILLER, the couple identified in the 1900 census I described above. Wish I had more to give you, but hope this gives you some leads. Coleen (who lives in Arkansas and therefore doesn't have easy access to IL records and research sources)
