Bamman & Debbie Spero. p.29 "John W. Edwards, 1827, Giles County. John was married in 1812 to NANCY BROWN of Giles County. They lived together about 6 years and had 4 children, during which time they would disagree and part for short intervals. About 1817 he could no longer take his wife's insults and violent temper and so made over all his property to George Brown, the father of his wife, in trust for her and their children. She left and went to live with her father. He gave her nine negroes and other property. John, however, was deceived by his father-in-law and was stripped of every piece of property he possessed. Nancy filed her petition for divorce in Giles County in 1826. He intended to let her have the divorce, but before they came to court she ran off with JASON HOPKINS. Petition is accompanied by the signatures of 116 persons." Jason Hopkins left behind wife and 6 children. He left with Nancy Brown and lived with here for at least 10 years before marrying Eleanor Johnson.

You might check and see if Mary Etta (Cherry) was born in Licking County, Ohio. It may be possible she is the daughter of James and Margaret Cherry. They are both buried in Whiteside County and were the first graves in the cemetery (Sharon Cemetery). Several of their 12 children were born in Ohio.
I have made several trips to Calvary Hill in Fulton over the years. It is a Catholic Cemetery with an abundance of Irish graves. (I am sure there are those buried who are not Irish) The cemetery is located north of downtown with a high bluff overlooking the Mississippi River. I believe the cemetery has been indexed. Perhaps someone could do a look-up for you. I know there is a copy in the Morrison library. Hope this helps.

I don't know of any Cemetery by the name of Calvary Hill in Fulton, Whiteside Co IL. Elgin stradles both Kane and Cook Counties. Might it not be there somewhere? Did the obit specifically say "Fulton IL". --- don1607@charter.net wrote: > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Surnames: Stuhlman > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Zh.2ADE/1912 > > Message Board Post: > > I am looking for the location of Calvary Hill cemetery in Fulton IL.
