Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/686 Surname: Wright, McCombs, Peterson, Pierce, Baker, Thompson, Henderson ------------------------- I need help in locating any remnants or any information on a Wright family who lived in Whiteside Co., IL sometime between 1848 aproximately and 1856. Their names were William Wright and Magdalene McCombs Wright. They left Nauvoo, Hancock Co. IL when the Mormons fled. They had owned property there and were in the church. Their oldest daughter Mary Wright was my greatgreatgrand-mother. She married a man also of the church Thomas Peterson in 1844 at Nauvoo, IL. Thomas owned a farm in Nauvoo. Mary and Thomas eventually moved to Halmilton Twp., Decatur County, Iowa. William Wright and Magdalene are found living there also by the time of the Iowa 1856 Census. Their is a wide space of years between their children who lived with them in Iowa, my gggrand-mother and the others. I have a feeling that some of their children stayed and married in the Whiteside county area. Other children that I have listed for them in Iowa include William Jr., Jane, Rachel and a young son named Adeniram. Also in the household is another woman named Jane, possibly a daughter-in-law? Any help or connections on my Wright's would be appreciated. E-mail direct is best. [email protected] Thanks Gail

His name was Franz Gaulrapp and he emigrated to the U.S. between 1875-1900. That is about the closest we can come. He lived in Boston, Massachusetts with his wife, Emma Reibel. We know that his first child was born in 1903, but that is all we know. There is a Maria Gaulrapp who emigrated in 1868 from Rippberg, Baden. I don't know if there's any connection there. If there's any possible connection, I'd love to hear from you.

    2. Kearney Bothwell
    3. Re BOTHWELL, BUCKINGHAM, FRALICK My sister just got back from a trip to Whiteside and Clinton counties and found some information on our Jeremiah Bothwell ancestors. The senior filed for/received a divorce from Sarah Bates Bothwell in Whiteside County in 1872 (Sarah moved to Nebraska after the divorce) and married Emily Buckingham in Clinton County the next year (minister was Josiah Leonard). His son, Jeremiah, married Marium Fralick in Clinton Co., in 1871 (E.L. Miller). Unfortunately, the people in the courthouse couldn't find the actual documents, just the indexes. (docket reference for the divorce is G-157; marriage of the senior Jeremiah is #5663 and that of the younger is 5113). My sister also looked at land records and found Jeremiah listed from about 1843 to about 1875 and I've written to the state archives at NIU to see if we can get any more info from there. Incidentally, she said the vital records in Whiteside Co. all seem to be in computer because the "very nice woman" who helped her took only a couple of minutes to come up with the information. My questions: 1. Does anyone know of any source where I might be able to find copies of the original documents? 2. Were there any city/county directories or anything of that type published in Whiteside/Cinton Counties during the period 1840-1880? 3. Does anyone have any additional information on Emily Buckham, Marium (Mary?) Fralick or either of the two ministers? Thanks. Kearney Bothwell

Their daughters were Ida, married a Danson, Margaret married (1) Albert A. Hobbs (2) Jens Peterson, and Elizabeth married Harrison Reynold John. 3. Posted on: Whiteside Co. Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/679 Surname: Lapham ------------------------- This family seems to have had its share of tradegy..have not found anything on the incident you mentioned, but in Jayne Kennedy Sweger's book: Deaths in Whiteside County, 1856-1882 I find two Lapham entries: 2 Mar 1865 Whiteside Sentinel Lapham; 6 yrs, dau of E. V. Lapham, fell into boiler of scalding water last Tuesday; parents sick with smallpox at the time. 24 Oct 1872 Whiteside Sentinel Lapham, Harriet J.; 45 yrs; d. 23 Oct 1872, Union Grove; wife of E. V. Lapham. E. V. Lapham apparently remarried (did not find the marriage in the Illinois marriage index. In Sweger's book on Marriages in Whiteside is: Lapham-Putnam; 4 Nov 1875 Whiteside Sentinel, married 22 Oct 1875 by Justice Yallee, E. V. Lapham, Union Grove and S. E. Putnam, Milwaukee, WI. Yallee is NOT a name that I have seen before, perhaps they married in Wis. In 1880 in Morrison was: Lapham, Edward M 54 M Farmer VT VT VT Sybyll F 36 M Wife WI VT VT Charles M 22 S Son IL VT VT Carrie F 16 S Dau IL VT VT Nellie F 13 S Dau IL VT VT Harriet F 3 S Dau IL VT VT Pauline F 1 S Dau IL VT VT Staples, Edwin M 59 M Visitor Auctioneer VT VT VT Margaret F 48 M Visitor VT VT VT The Birthplace information for the last two should prob. be IL VT WI as they appear to be by Sybyll. It would thus appear that Sybyll was the Mrs. Lapham who died in the incident and in Grove Hill Cemetery in Morrison is: Lapham, Sibyll E. d. Aug 11, 1885, age not given, Lot 100A, residence Morrison. Bob

Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/678 Surname: Lapham ------------------------- Looking for any information on this subject. I am researching an incident that occurred in KANE County back in 1885. According to the newspaper articles of the day, the individual that I am researching was involved in a home invasion in Morrison, WHITESIDE County during July of that year. As a result of that crime, the newspaper states that MRS. LAPHAM died the following day from "fright". Any information on this family, the incident or otherwise would be greatly appreciated. If I would be better directed, please advise./ .

    3. Surnames: BUCKINGHAM, FRALICK, BOTHWELL Looking for information on Emily Buckingham, who married my gggrandfather Jeremiah Bothwell in Clinton Co, Iowa Mar. 29, 1873 (marriage No. 5663). Jeremiah was from Garden Plain, Whiteside Co., Ill and they are believed to have returned to Whiteside Co. and lived there at least until 1875 according to land records. Also looking for information on Marium (Marian?) Fralick, who married Jeremiah Bothwell (son of the above) in Clinton Co. on Oct. 5, 1871. Apparently he went to Nebraska with his brothers in 1871, then returned to Whiteside County sometime in mid-late 1872. We suspect there may be a link between Jeremiah (the elder) and the families of William & Diana Bothwell and john & Ruth Bothwell, who helped found the Congregational Church in Albany/Garden Plain, Ill, then later moved to Clinton County and/or Dubuque County in Iowa. Any help/leads greatly appreciated! Kearney Bothwell -- For more information on the Bothwell family, check out the Bothwell Family History and Surname Resource Center at http://www.bothwell.cx
