Sharon, I could have my sister check for an obit in the Whiteside Sentinel...I note that there is a bio of Solomon Hubbard in the Bent-Wilson History of Whiteside County, do you have a copy of that? Also, Solomon and Sarepta (Saropta in the Bent Wilson history) are buried (along with lots of other Hubbards) in the Lyndon Cemetery, so you have the dates from the stones? Hi, Am new to the list and am researching the Hubbard family that settled in Whiteside County in the 1840's. Solomon Hubbard and his wife Sereptia brought their family including Chauncey my GGrandfather from Monroe County NY. Chauncey was born July 4 1827. He married Hannah E. Morris- February 18, 1864. I have the family pretty well traced back to this point. I am wondering if anyone may have some obituary info on the parents. Solomon Hubbard d. about 1888? or Sereptia Stone Hubbard. Thanks in advance Sharon Eddie
Am looking to fill in my info on MARGARET FLANNERY CALLAHAN. Know she was born abt. 1877 in Whiteside Co. to Patrick and Catherine Flannery. Have got her up to her marriage on June 12, 1912 in Whitesde Co. to PETER CALLAHAN. Know that she was residing in Garden Plain in 1916, when her mother died. Also know she had at least one child HUBERT CALLAHAN, dob unknown. But hoping to find out how many children she had, where and when she died (was still alive in 1949), and when Hubert was born. I know she lived in Garden Plain-1916, Union Grove-1939, Morrison- 1947 and Garden Plain - 1948. Thank you for any help you can give me....you always do a great job ! Cynthia

Linda, Henry Keefer is mentioned twice in the Bent Wilson History of Whiteside County, once as a town Supervisor in Hopkins Township in 1874, and the second time when a G. G. Keefer who married Phoebe A. Harvey had a son named Henry Keefer...I suspect that this second Henry Keefer, was a Grandson or maybe a Nephew to the first one, but have not checked the family. In the 1860 census, Henry Keefer was a farmer in Hopkins Twp., age 28. Phoebe would have been 18 then, so actually G. G. Keefer would not have been Henry's son. In the Bastian History, it is mentioned that in 1924 the Keefer house at 412 First Avenue was donated to the YWCA in Sterling. But...didn't find anything that described the business that Henry Keefer operated. Bob

Posted on: Whiteside Co. Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/796 Surname: Miller ------------------------- Connie, Miller is one of my favorite names to check...right up there with Smith!! : ) But, I did go through both the 1870 and 1880 Whiteside Co census for STERLING Twp. ONLY...there were LOTS of Millers, but none with a Harriet, or even a Hattie or May. Do you know if Harriet May Miller had an older sister or brother. With Harriet being born in 1870, if she was born in the late summer or fall, she would have been missed in the census, and by 1880 perhaps the family had moved. Bob
