Hello to all!! Am wondering if someone has access to newspaper records for the Erie Independent and can do a lookup for me. Am looking for information on JOHN GAFFY - his probate was listed in the Erie Independent, Dec 21, 1906. I have been trying to find my husband's GGGGrandfather. We know that he left Ireland and went to the US with his wife and daughter. His three sons went to AUS. We have also been told that he died between 1900 and 1920. This is the first real link we have had!! RE; the lookup..........maybe death records would give us some information that we could link to our family. As you can see, am grasping at straws........but sometimes the 'straws' come up trumps!! Bye for now, K. Gaffy Australia

Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/10886 Surname: Stutzke, Elgin ------------------------- I asked my other source to double check his census information and he now says that the information regarding Minnie Stutzke being the mother-in-law of William Elgin was a mistake on his part. He says that the census information is actually blank with respect to her status within the household. Sorry for the confusion.

Posted on: Whiteside Co. Illinois Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/Whiteside/10883 Surname: Elgin, Stutzke ------------------------- I did not check the census personally, but did get the following information from another researcher regarding the 1900 census of Whiteside County: ******** 1900 Elgin, William age 24 born IL, father GR, mother GR, Buttermaker in Hopkins wife Lizzie age 20 born GR, father GR, mother GR and son Edwin age 1 born IL with mother in-law Minnie Stutzky age 64 Widow born GR, father GR, mother GR, also residing with them was Fritz, Gustaf age 27 single, boarder, Buttermaker born GR, father GR, mother GR. ********* So presumably the census taker did record a notation indicating that Minnie Stuzky (?Stutzke) was the mother in-law of William Elgin. Can you take another look at the actual entry and notations? Thanks.
