I do not have Lizzie (Elizabeth M.) Russell's parents names, however, from census records, her father was born in New York and her mother was born in Pennsylvania. My record shows her as being born in Des Moines, Polk Co., IA, on Oct. 26, 1847. Have you tried the 1850 censu record for that area. Her son, Lloyd Brittell married a Grace Russell. Probably a distant cousin.
I will look up your site on Orange Brittell. I am connected to, probably his sisters who married two Scott brothers. I do not have anything on the Russell's, Sorry!
There were ONLY TWO Elizabeth Russells in Whiteside County in the 1860 census, the most likely one would be this family. In 1860 in Montmorency Twp. Russell, S-re-d 46 M NY Farmer Tabartha 46 F OH Minerva 18 F OH Domestic Albert 16 M OH Farmlaborer Elizabeth 13 F IN Wm. 3 M IL I am using a transcript of the census, and the -'s mean they had trouble reading the name. I went to 1870 to check it and found: Russell, Seneca 56 M NY Farmer Tabitha 53 F OH William 13 M IL Farmlaborer Warner 10 M IL Sides, Ellen 12 F IL Domestic Doud, John 38 M IR x x x Farmlaborer Russell, Permelia 84 F NY I would suspect strongly that Permelia is Seneca Russell's mother, will do some more checking of other census, and get back to you. Note, the other possible one was an Eliza who was 21 in 1860 and MARRIED to a Russell...so for her to marry Orange Brittel her husband would have to be gone, and she would probably come with children. I would check a Nebraska census to compare her age to the Elizabeth who was 13 in 1860. I used to work with Marion Bielema at Clinton, IA. My aunt's name was also (Marian). Marion's son Jim lives at 919 3rd Ave. Fulton, IL. 61252. 815-589-2718. I believe she also has a son David, who lives at 14633 Wacker Rd., Mt. Carroll, IL. 61053-9003, 815-244-9760. I went to high school with Jim, he is about 3 years older than me. They are all very nice people. I thought that Marion lived in Clinton, but I haven't found her address yet. There is a Joe Bielema listed in Morrison, IL. at 207 Railroad Ave., 815-772-7136. Hope this is helpful, also my parents might know some more. Let me know what you come up with, and good luck with your search!
What a nice surprise to find someone with this autograph book. After going through your list of name I found not one but three of my husband third cousins. Oliver Pittman, Norman Young and Nettie Young are children of two of my husband gg aunts. Would love to get copies of autographs and picture of Norman if possible. Margaret

Yes this is a nasty virus,, once or if you open it it will send it to everyone in your address book. This is how it spreads. So in our Geneoalogy groups if it is sent to you once most likely multiple times. I do not beleive it was written against us in fact it was sent to my teenagers. It is aimed at people how open up attachments period. The name is: W32/[email protected] (or) SCam32.exe. From what I can understand the subject is: filename(random). The body of the letter sometimes begins with, "Hi! How are you? I send you this file in order to have your advice," (or) This is the file with the information you asked for," (or) (Anything to do with a FILE). Sometimes it is also done in Spanish, so be leary of anything you receive that is done in Spanish Most email software,, allows for rules. I created a rule to delete any message with "Hi! How are you? I send you this file in order to have your advice," Kent > Dear Cousins and List Members, > > I have returned from a 5 day trip and found many emails that contain virus infected attachments in them. These all have in some way, some connection to the many genealogy lists that I am on. They are not coming through the lists but will have something in the email that refers to the list and that would make it seem safe to open and also tempting to open because we all want even that little scrap of information. One had Nancy Trice's name on it, two attachments had a connection to Doug Leonard who has done much research and posted it on the web and the other had an email address and the name of one of my cousins who does not have this address anymore and hasn't had for some time. One was from a Barbara Whisenant and this one also had the Doug Leonard attachment. > > The point I am trying to make is that whoever is doing this is watching these genealogy lists and getting this information. How else would anyone know my connections to these 3 people? > > I am no longer opening anything that is sent to me like this. If you want to contact me you will have to do it through the list. I am more than happy to share my information BUT I am not chancing these virus infected attachments. > > This is was written in all the infected emails. You cannot get the virus through the emails, only if you open the attachments. > > > > Hi! How are you? > > > > I send you this file in order to have your advice > > > > See you later. I'm looking for Obituary or other death info. about: * My Great Grandfather George Balk (Son of Ralph & Jennie) who was born in Holland in 1872 & died in Sept. of 1904. Some of my relatives swear he is buried in the Fulton, IL cemetery but there is no record of either his or his wife's burial. I'm curious as to his cause of death. * My Great Grandmother Celia/Cecilia/Ceclia/Cecila Balk... George's wife. My relatives insist her maiden name was Shipma or Schipma but I'm beginning to think it was either Vassen or Vossen or Vissen. Again, we have no death or obituary info. All we know is that she was born in Holland in 1874 (no date) and was buried on May 21 or 22, 1901 supposedly in the Fulton, IL cemetery. Her & George Balk were married in November of 1895 & had 3 daughters. * I'm also looking for info. pertaining to Klaas/Klaus Wiebenga He was the son of Klaas/Klaus & Rena (Zeerijp/Zeeryp) Wiebenga. We have a birth date for him...January 22, 1892 & I assumed he passed away because July 5, 1895 Klaas Klaus & Rena Wiebenga had another son who they named Claus. A relative told me he died around 1917 or 1918 in Clinton, IA from a fall but if that's true that still doesn't explain the other Claus Wiebenga who we do have extensive life information about. Can anybody help?
Dawn, I'm sure you must have received an answer to you inquiry long ago, but I looked up the two people that you asked about in the History of Whiteside County by W.W. Davis. On page 441, Nicholas S. Mason, A, 34th IL Inf. The heading that he is listed under is: deceased soldiers buried in Grove Hill Cemetery. On page 237, John Still, 46th IL Veteran Volunteer Infantry. He is in a list of soldiers who enlisted at original organization. Janet
