Hi all, This is sort of off-point, but I wanted to tell everyone on the list to keep one of the finest genealogists in White County, Verla Fleck Young, in their prayers. Verla is currently in Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, with a poor prognosis. Verla is responsible for several thousand pages of extracted obits from the Carmi newspapers from 1872 through the 1940s, as well as some from more current years. She has spent many, many afternoons sitting at the microfilm machine at the Carmi library transcribing information in long hand, and evenings typing them at home. The 1872-1896 obits have been collected into a book sold by list member Pat Davis, while the balance are available in notebooks at the MSF Genealogy Library in Carmi. Cindy
