    3. Bruce may be Rube (although Rube may be short for Reuban) but if Bruce was not written well, like the B being missing I can see how a translator might put ruce and that could become rube. His name may have been Reuban Bruce. You could probably write to Wayne county and get dead certificates on lots of these people. I would say the Ida at the end of your e-mail is yours. Very often the census takers just guessed at the spelling because the people did not read or write and didn't know how to spell their own names. Therefore the same family had different spellings or the spellings changed. Mine has Lain/Layne/Lane/Lines/Lyon/Laine. Any of those are possibilities for me. Ida owned a store or restaurant in Wayne City at one time. Wayne City is where you will find people who may know them. If you are not on the Wayne County Illinois site, I would get on it and post to it and see what happens.
