Well, she was apparently b Tn, at least. Check out the 1880 census at familysearch.org, though, for William Davis, b ca 1840, IL. His wife is listed as Sarah C. but the child Eda is there - and there is a mother-in-law Matilda HAYTER, b NC, living with them! Maybe a later wife of John?
