Greeting all -- Three weeks after the initial announcement, the Genealogy Society has 59 members (as of yesterday)! We've received lots of charts, and quite a few queries for the Newsletter, so it seems we're off to a blazing start. Many of you have asked what you can do to help when you're so far away, and we'll probably be contacting you either by email or snail mail, but for now, I'd suggest that sending in queries for the Newsletter - it's a "mini" way to get your information out and to make contacts. Another thing that would help would be submitting anecdotes of your research experiences, or amusing things that have happened during your ancestor quest. Short articles are great, but longer articles are acceptable too... this is YOUR Newsletter, and can be an excellent forum for White County researchers to communicate! Our next Director's meeting will be January 14, at the meeting room of the Old National Bank in Carmi. We'll begin at 4:30, and though we don't have programs, there should be a lively discussion of logistics, what the Newsletter should contain, and who's doing what, as well as a search for some place to store all these beautiful charts and supplies, etc. All our meetings are open meetings, so you're invited to attend if you wish - your suggestions will be welcome! And for those who can't attend, there WILL be a ful report in the February Newsletter, so you won't miss a thing! Meanwhile, we welcome more queries (remember, the deadline is January 13), articles, ideas, suggestions, etc...etc...etc... And now I have to get back to making out all those charter member cards!
