She was daughter of Robert Barnett Spence (1824-1878) and Adaline Calvert (1828-1906). Robert B. Spence's parents were Robert Spence (1795-1869) and Jane Wilson (1807-1882). Alexander Pitt Spence was her sibling. I have Spence tree going back to Patrick, born 1610. Ella Jane was my great grandmother. Robert Spence immigrated from Scotland about 1850.
