Barbara J. Whetstone Barbara J. Whetstone, 73, of Carmi, died Thursday, June 07, 2012, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife. She was a very active member of First Christian Church in Carmi where she served as a Sunday school teacher, youth coach, song leader and kitchen worker for many funeral dinners through the years. Survivors include her husband, Leo Whetstone; a son Jim Whetstone; a daughter Jan Hutchinson; a sister Wanda Madden, all of Carmi and three grandchildren. Funeral services for Barbara J. Whetstone will be 4 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi with burial in Centerville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, Saturday, June 9, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice of Eldorado, Illinois, or First Christian Church and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel.
