I looked around abit for that Jesse and Newton Smith. I found Jesse in the 1870 White Co, he had a son named Newton, 12 years old, the wife was a Martha. There is a marriage on IRAD for a Jesse Smith in Gallatin Co IL in I believe 1858, her name was Lucy, I forget the last name. He seems to be married to another woman in 1900. So I guess he could have had Newton before the marriage to the Martha but the year looks about right. IRAD is free so check it out if you have not already done so. I found probates for a Rebecca Smith in 1912, the Jesse record just showed it was a death record 70-P-21, I am not sure what that means unless it is book 70 page 21. Maybe someone else can clear that up for you. Jerry
