<http://www.carmitimes.com> Carmi Times Posted Aug 01, 2012 @ 10:25 AM Grayville, IL Martha L. McElroy, 84, of Grayville, died Monday, July 30, 2012, at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was born August 5, 1927, in Mt. Vernon, Ind., the daughter of Roy and Alice (Roos) Sherretz. She married Robert McElroy on February 19, 1944, and he preceded her in death on October 10, 1984. Martha was a homemaker. Survivors include a son Robert McElroy and wife, Marie, of Fairmont; a daughter Linda Higgins and husband, Larry, of Evansville, Ind.; brothers Leroy Sherretz and wife, Ruby, Glen Sherretz and wife, Rita, all of Evansville, Ind.; sisters Dorothy Duckworth of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Alice Tompkins of Henderson, Ky., Barbara Ann Sider of Indianapolis, Ind.; grandchildren, Tracy Vindhurst, Lori Zint, David McElroy, Debra Ferpotto, Sharon Jeffers; and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Merle, Bill, Kenneth and Robert Sherretz; and sister, Mary Kathryn Cheshire. Visitation and funeral services are Thursday, August 2, 2012, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Visitation is at 11 a.m. and continues until the funeral at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery in Grayville.
