Shirley Scruby, Carmi, May 17, 2012 Shirley Scruby, 88, of Carmi, passed away Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 12:40 p.m. at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born January 7, 1924 in Chillicothe, Missouri, the daughter of David and Grace (Maxwell) Anderson. Shirley married Charles Calvin Scruby April 5, 1947 and he preceded her in death December 1, 1974. She was a homemaker. Shirley is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Megan and Charles Price of Rochester Hills, MI and Priscilla and Rick Abell of Metropolis, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, David "Skip" and Janet Scruby of Lebanon, OH and Charles Matthew and Kate Scruby of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a daughter, Susan Scruby; and a sister, Dorothy Breit. Funeral services for Shirley Scruby, 88, of Carmi, will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with Mike Fields officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden near Carmi. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
