Howard E. "Hardy" Attebury, age 63, of Carmi, passed away Monday, July 09, 2012, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was born March 15, 1949, in Carmi, the son of Harold W. and Dorothy (Aud) Attebury. He married Janet Beck on June 15, 1966, in Henderson, KY, and she survives. Hardy began working at Williamson Ford at the age of 17. He owned and operated Professional Auto Parts in Carmi for 23 years. He enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, and mowing, and especially, his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janet; a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Cynthia Attebury of Carmi; three grandchildren, Brad, and his wife Rachel, Brenton, and Briley Attebury, all of Carmi; a great-granddaughter, Eva Marie; many cousins and friends; and his loyal companions, Maggie Mae and Paco. He is preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 2012, at 11:00 am, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Mike Buckman will officiate. Burial will take place in Big Prairie Cemetery.
