Jean C. "J.C." Oliver, Jr., age 64, of Fairview Heights, IL, born on February 6, 1948 in Eldorado, IL died on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. J.C. retired after over 30 years as Chief of Police of the Alton and Southern Railroad. He was a 25 year volunteer for the Fairview Heights Fire Department, a former member of the Major Case Squad for the Greater St. Louis area, and a Vietnam Army veteran. He was a member of Enjoy Church, Alton, IL and a loving husband, dad, and grandpa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jean and Dorothy, nee Roush, Oliver, Sr. Surviving is his loving wife of 44 years, Paulett "Polly," nee Hauger, Oliver; his two children, Nicole Lynn (Timothy) Galunas of Fairchild AFB, WA and Nathan Lane Oliver of Columbia, MO; his three grandchildren, Abigail and Andrew Galunas and Hunter Oliver; and his sister, Cheryl Edwards of Norris City, IL. J.C. was a loving son-in-law, uncle, and cousin. Memorials are preferred to Backstoppers, Inc. Funeral: Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, July 6, 2012 at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, IL with Pastor Daren Carstens officiating. J.C.'s request was to be cremated.
