Carmi Times posted July 17, 2012 @ 12:43 PM Janie Appel, 80, of Altamont died at 6:48 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2012 at her home. She was born on December 1, 1931 in Carmi, the daughter of Ivan and Edna (Wibbler) Weigant. Janie married Robert H. Appel on December 29, 1951 at the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. He preceded her in death on August 13, 2007. Janie was a mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of the Exxon Annuitant's Club and affiliated with the Methodist Church. She is survived by her daughter, Jane Ann Tappendorf of Altamont, her grandson, Sean Tappendorf and his wife, Jennifer, of Boxford, Mass., her granddaughter, Amy Bozzacco and her husband, Damian, of Green Bay, Wis., her great grandchildren, Dylan Tappendorf and Genevieve Appel Tappendorf and her sister, Carol Sue Gravenor of Bogart, Ga. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister, Betty Jo Davis and her son-in-law, Eugene Tappendorf. Private family services will be held at a later date.
