He was born Dec. 15, 1922, in Pickett County, Tenn., the son of Spencer W. and Maggie Irma (Wilborne) Conner. He married Maggie Gunnels and she preceded him in death on Aug. 5, 1989. He later married Debbie Copeland and she survives. Earnest was a World War II Navy veteran and member of the Missionary Baptist Church in Crossville. He retired from the State of Illinois Highway Department. Hunting, fishing and being with his family were his favorite pastimes. Survivors include: his wife, Debbie Conner; sons, Ernest (Elliy) Conner and Chuck (Becky) Conner, all of Crossville; daughters, Betty (Steve) Hughes of Hazelton, Ind., and Judy (Chris) Trundle of Hendersonville, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, David Conner, Whitney (Mark) Pearce, Joe (Julie) Conner, Michelle (Billy) Winters, Andy Trundle, Adam (Julie) Trundle and Sara (Joey) Simmons; four great-grandchildren, Austin Winters, Bailey Winters, Chase Conner and Maggie Pearce. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Spencer and Maggie Conner; first wife, Maggie Conner; daughter, Janie Conner; brothers, Jake, Malton and Dalton Conner; sisters, Lois Taylor, Roxie Kiesling, Lillie Holt and Eula Kiesling. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and funeral services follow at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Crossville. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery.
