He was born October 15, 1923, in White County, the son of Henry and Carrie (Pfister) Morrill. John Henry married Iva Mae McCluskey on April 21, 1945, and she survives. John Henry worked at Carmi Township Hospital for 35 years as the maintenance engineer. He was a member of the Burnt Prairie Congregational Christian Church. John Henry is survived by his wife of 66 years, Iva Mae Morrill; one daughter and son-in-law, Carol Sue and Joe Ballard of Denham Springs, La.; one son and daughter-in-law, Henry Alan and Vicky Morrill of Carmi; four grandchildren, Lisa (Ballard) Sutton, Matthew Morrill, Lindsay (Morrill) Belcher, and Jason Ballard; six great-grandchildren, with one being born four hours before his death; and one sister, Helen Whetstone. John Henry is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifford Morrill; and three sisters Dorothy Ackerman, Rosemary Ackerman, and Sylvia Ann McLin. John Henry loved gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 1 p.m. at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi.
