James “Jimbo” Cherry, 56, of Sesser died Wednesday, March 25, 2012, at Carbondale Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, at the Brayfield-Gilbert Funeral Home in Sesser, with cremation to follow. Memorials may be made to the Hospices of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home. Mr. Cherry was born in Carmi on Sept. 15, 1955, the son of Charles E. and Mary (Coats) Cherry. He was an employee of Bombardier Boat Factory in Benton. He is survived by his children, Jody Cherry of Champaign, Jeremey Clutter of Nebraska and April Baxter of Sesser; nine grandchildren; and siblings, Rose and Darrell Simion of Christopher, George and Becky Cherry of Sesser, Carolyn and Larry Howell of Centralia, David and Janis Winters of Mt. Vernon, Ind., and Mary and Jerry Waller of St. Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn.
