She was born February 1, 1936, in Springerton, the daughter of Charles and Anna (Kimbro) Rush. She married Charles W. James on January 20, 1957 in Emma, who preceded her in death May 6, 1983. James had worked at Sterling and Ainsbrook as a machine operator for many years. She worked hard, raised six children, and was an avid quilter. Above all, she loved her grandbabies. James is survived by a companion of 20 years, Tony Denson; a son and daughter-in-law, Donnie and Nancy James of Ashland City, Tenn.; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Cerissa and Alan Waddington of Crossville, Bev and Ben Rayborn of Mt. Carmel, Kathy Holloman of Carmi and her fiancée, Jack Thompson, of Effingham, and Charlotte and Bill McGarrh of Carmi; nine grandchildren, James Sheckles of Yulee, Fla., Christopher Sheckles of Carmi, Lindsay Rayborn of Mt. Carmel, Bridget McCormick of Carmi, Lee Holloman of Carmi, Tiffany Earl of Colorado Springs, Colo.. Jesse James of Edwardsville, Eric McGarrh of Cabot, Ark., Brittany Veatch of Clovis, N.M.; and 19 great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Sands of Wood River; four nephews and two nieces. James is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles; a daughter, Jacqueline Jackie Talley; a grandson, Bobby Rayborn; a great-grandson, Larry Rayborn, two sons-in-law, Larry Sheckles and Jack Holloman; and two brothers, Galen and Charles Rush. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at 11 a.m., at Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 until 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
