Carmi Times Mon Apr 27, SEABROOK, TEXAS - Kathryn Rosanne Allen Frazier, 71, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, died on Tuesday, April 21, 2009, at her home in Seabrook, Texas, surrounded by family, after a courageous six-month battle with pancreatic cancer. Her wonderful, positive attitude was a real inspiration to all. Rosanne was born on May 23, 1937, near Carmi, Illinois, to Samuel James Allen and Mattie Maye Butler Allen. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James Butler Allen and William Lee Allen. She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bill E. Frazier; her children, Kimberly Ann Leach and husband Doug of Houston, her son Kyle Allen Frazier and wife Analisa of Houston, and her son Mark Eric Frazier and wife Brenda of San Antonio; her grandchildren, Alexa Catherine Leach and Ashley Elizabeth Leach of Houston, Austin Ryan Frazier, Andrew Allen Frazier, Taylor Reagan Frazier and Reed Blaschke Frazier of San Antonio, and Kyle Brandt Frazier and Madeleine Marie Frazier of Houston; her dear sister, Georgia Allen Friggle of Victoria, Texas; brothers-in-law, Charles Frazier and wife Lavonne, and Jerre Frazier and wife Lu; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Rosanne's greatest joys in life were her family, her friends and her love of art and genealogy. Her love and commitment to her family was at the heart of all she did. She was a devoted and loving friend to those she came to know in the many organizations in which she was active - Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo School Art Committee Judge, Clipt Wings, Bay Area Art League, Houston Symphony League, Houston Bar Auxiliary and many more. A life-long Methodist, she was an active member of Seabrook UMC. Raised on her parent's farm in White County, Illinois, she forever valued her Midwestern roots. She attended a one-room school through eighth grade, graduated from Carmi Township High School in 1954 and studied fine arts at the University of Illinois, where she was selected as an Illio Beauty. She was also selected in 1955 as Miss Illinois REA. After two years of college she moved to Washington, D.C., to become a flight attendant for Capital Airlines, where she met her husband, Bill, a lieutenant in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Belvoir, Va. They were married on Dec. 6, 1956. After moving to Timber Cove, she obtained a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Houston. Her greatest passion, instilled in her at a young age by her mother, was art. After graduating from college, she continued to study art throughout her life, attending workshops around the country. She was privileged to study for years under world renowned portrait artist Lajos Markos. Gifted with a special talent for painting portraits, her subjects included generals, astronauts, judges, corporate executives and families. Selected as an artist for the U.S. Coast Guard Art Collection, her work is displayed throughout the country. A private burial at Forest Park Lawndale preceded a Memorial Service at noon on Monday, April 27 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 5501 S. Main, Houston, Texas. A reception followed.
