    3. Norval C. "Cotton" Mick, Sr., 82, of Odin and formerly of Mt. Vernon, passed away at 11 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2009, at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.He was born in Carmi on Friday, Oct. 8, 1926, a son of Frank and Jessie Mary (Locher) Mick. He married Norma J. on Feb. 3, 1947, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1999.Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn with the Rev. Larry Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn. The chaplain of Mt. Vernon American Legion Post 141 will conduct a military flag presentation service at the cemetery.Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.Norval is survived by a son, Norval C. "Sonny" Mick, Jr. and wife Melba of Concord, N. C.; daughter, Sherry Davidson and husband William of Roxanna; four grandchildren, Steph-anie Mick-Hutchinson and husband Brian of Concord, N. C., Kristy Mick-Floyd and husband Craig of South Roxanna, William Davidson III and wife Joann of Bunker Hill and Anthony Davidson and wife Barbie of Roxanna; a brother, James Mick of Alton; a sister, Naomi Womack of Enfield; and 11 great-grandchildren.His parents; his wife; two brothers, Charlie and Shorty Mick; and one sister, Aline, preceded him in death."Cotton" was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 268 in Caseyville.For those who wish, memorials may be given to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (J.D.R.F.) and will be accepted at the funeral home, or from the online obituary at www.hugheyfuneralhome1969.com, or mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O.
