Carmi Times Thu Jul 23, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - Floyd Taylor, 93, Carmi, passed away at 8:43 p.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind. He was born Aug. 9, 1915 in Carmi, the son of Robert Stewart and Martha Ellen (Aud) Taylor, and was married March 26, 1937 to Esther Julia Seitz, who preceded him in death Oct. 25, 2006. Mr. Taylor was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi and a transport driver for MAPCO transportation for 29 years. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Claire Taylor of Severn, Md.; two grandchildren, Cynthia M. Canner and John R. Taylor II; five great-grandchildren, Robert T., Christina M., Catherine M., Camilla M. and Claire M. Canner; two nieces, Judy Peyton and Glenda Taylor; and two nephews, Ed Hall and Doug Devore. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther; a brother, Glenard David Taylor; a sister, Mary Ellen Hall; and two nieces, Martha Lou Vincent and Alta Mae Cooper. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2009 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Steve Friese and the Rev. Dr. Harrison L. Peyton officiating. Burial will be in White County Memorial Garden. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
