Carmi Times Mon Jul 20, 2009 Carmi, IL Elva Pearl Eck, 101, Carmi, died Saturday, July 18, 2009, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born Jan. 11, 1908, in Georgetown, Ill., the daughter of Willard and Hattie (Howard) Pribble. She married Clarence O. Eck on April 12, 1924, and he preceded her in death in July 1975. Elva and Clarence were owners for many years of the Ecko Motel in Enfield. She was a homemaker, avid quilter, and enjoyed playing bingo and visiting the White County Senior Citizens Center in Carmi. Survivors include two sons, Willard Eck of Grayville, and Clarence O. Eck and his wife, Dorothy, of Luther, Mich.; four daughters, Doris I. Ross, Barbara A. Shields, Virginia V. Connolly and Janet C. Baxley and her husband, Gary, all of Carmi; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Eck of Berkeley, Mich.; 24 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence O. Eck; and a son, Robert L. Eck. Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Funeral is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral chapel in Carmi. Burial will be in Enfield Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the White County Senior Citizens Center and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
