Carmi Times Wed Sep 09, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - M. Dorys Saunders, 90, Carmi, died Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2009, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Mill Shoals Township, White County, the daughter of Wayne and Bessie (Savage) York. On Nov. 8, 1941, she married Arthur Richard Saunders, and he preceded her in death on July 10, 1994. Mrs. Saunders was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker. She was a retired supervisor, having worked at Ainsbrooke Corp. in Carmi. Her church was her mainstay, where she was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Carmi since 1941. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Art and Connie Saunders of Carmi; a daughter and son-in-law, D. Jean and John Rago of Homer Glen, Ill.; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Endicott of Clewiston, Fla., Betty and Ralph Dozier of Fairfield, and Deloris Smith of Carmi; a sister-in-law, Roberta Brantley of Earlington, Ky.; five grandchildren, Alan Saunders, Amy (Saunders) Beck, Kyle Rago, Eric Rago and Neil Rago; four great-grandchildren, Ethan Beck, Emma Beck, August Saunders and Hope Rago; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Mrs. Saunders in death are her parents; husband; two brothers, Lecil York and Darrell York; and two sisters, Maxine Norris and Ruth Weiss. Visitation and funeral service are Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Visitation is at 1 p.m. and continues until the funeral time at 3 p.m. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi. Memorial contributions may be made to either Gideons International or the Church of the Nazarene of Carmi and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel.
