    3. Carmi Times Tue Nov 24, 2009 Norris City - Wanola "Sue" Evans, 81, Norris City, passed away at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2009 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born Feb. 28, 1928 in Carmi, the daughter of Raymond Cecil and Lorena Naomi (McCarty) Holtzclaw. She married Guy C. "Bud" Evans Dec. 17, 1955, and he preceded her in death Dec. 2, 1989. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Norris City. She was a homemaker, a seamstress at the Ainsbrooke sewing factory and did home healthcare work. She was a member of the American Legion and V.F.W. Auxiliaries, H.E.A., Norris City Senior Citizens, the White County Senior Citizens Board and was an avid card player. Surviving are four daughters and two sons-in-law, April (Evans) Rister of Norris City, Carol (Higginson) and John Wheeler of Brighton, Bobbie (Higginson) and Bobby Brown of Evansville, Ind., and Cathy (Higginson) Branson of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Mark Evans of Norris City and Bart Evans of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Glenard "Sarge" and Danelle Holtzclaw of Carmi, and Raymond Charles Holtzclaw of Westport, Mass.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Daniel Holtzclaw. Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Evans' memory to the White County Senior Citizens Center in Carmi. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, the Rev. Janet Roy officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Norris City. Friends may call after noon until the service time Friday at the funeral home in Norris City.
