Carmi Times Fri Nov 27, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - James K. Peyton, 76, of Carmi, passed away the afternoon of Thursday, Nov. 26, 2009, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born Jan. 21, 1933 in Ava, the son of James Henry and Ruby (Leonard) Peyton. He married Fannie Burnett on April 12, 1952 in Carmi. Mr. Peyton had worked in the area oilfields for many years. He is survived by his mother, Ruby McMahon of Crossville; a son, Kenneth Peyton of Wyoming; a daughter-in-law, Norby Burnett of Canton, Ohio; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Steven Samson, Pam and David Baker, and Lorie and Danny Martin, all of Carmi; two brothers, Larry Peyton of Maunie, and Jerry Peyton of Crossville; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Alice Duvall of Crossville, Nina and Bob Duckworth of Maunie, Anita Schneider of Carmi, Donna and Jim Daughtery of Madisonville, Ky., Diane and Buddy Swindle of Crossville, and Lula Witcher of Norman, Okla.; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Helen Ziegler of Carmi; and many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Fannie, his father, James Henry; a son, William Michael Burnett; and a daughter, Vickie Lynn Peyton. Funeral services will be held at 12;30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009, at Stendeback Family Funeral Home/Kittinger-Fair in Carmi. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Marshall Ferry Cemetery.
