Carmi Times Mon Dec 07, 2009 Norris City - Doyle Max Raney, 87, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009 at his residence in Norris City. He was born Sept. 9, 1922 in Norris City, the son of Walter Lee and Ora Marie (Ridenour) Raney. He married Marie Vickers. Mr. Raney was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of Ditney Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Marie Raney of Norris City; a daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Randy Demarest of Norris City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gerald and Ginger Raney of Norris City, and Edward Raney of New Haven; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Rose Raney of Bloomfield, N.M.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry William and James Ray Raney; a sister, Louise Johnson; and a brother, Gary Dean Raney. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, Joe Patton officiating. Burial will be in Ditney Ridge Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the combined units of the American Legion and V.F.W. Friends may call from 5 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.
