Carmi Times Thu Dec 17, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - Hazel Howell, 88, passed away at 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2009 at her residence in Carmi. She was born Feb. 26, 1921, the daughter of E. Clifford "E.C." and Lora (Pyle) Turner. She married William Pershing Howell on Sept. 17, 1938, and he preceded her in death on April 2, 2007. Mrs. Howell was a homemaker and farmer. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Pershing L. and Jackie Howell of Carmi, and David J. and Suzanne Howell of Morton; one brother, Ray Turner of Carmi; two grandchildren, Jennifer Kiefewetter and Janelle Howell; and three great-grandchildren, Andrew Howell, Christopher Kavanaugh and Kathryn Kiefewetter. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter, Wilma Sue Howell; and two grandchildren, Rodney Lagne Howell and Michael Jay Howell. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Luke Raczykowski officiating. Burial will be in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call after 9:30 until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
