Carmi Times Mon Dec 28, 2009 Texas - The Rev. Francis George Van Vleck, 95, Dallas, Texas, formerly of Carmi, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2009 at Presbyterian Village North in Dallas. He was born June 27, 1914 in Kankakee, the son of Percy and Arselie (Brouillett) Van Vleck. He married Edna May Jones Sept. 11, 1934, and she preceded him in death July 6, 1976. He then married Clara Sybil Shires, and she survives. He was a retired minister with First Church of God. Surviving are his wife, Sybil, of Dallas; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lydia Ann Rudisill of Indianapolis, Ind., and Anna May and Herbert Bell of Norris City; a stepson, Kevin Markham of Dallas, Texas; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Francis Arthur Van Vleck; and four sisters, Adelia, Marie, Genevieve and Theresa. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in North Maple Ridge Cemetery.
