Carmi Times Fri May 22, 2009 Norris City, Ill. - James Robert O'Neal, 79, passed away at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2009 at his residence near Norris City. He was born April 15, 1930 in Heralds Prairie Township, the son of Dillard and Opal Ellen (Bryant) O'Neal. He married Venita Lois Millikan March 2, 1949, and she preceded him in death Feb. 20, 2009. Mr. O'Neal was a member of Omaha Church of the Nazarene. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Rita Knight, and Paula and Jerry Healy, all of Norris City; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Mary O'Neal, and Harold Lynn and Janet O'Neal, all of Norris City; a brother and sister-in-law, Eugene and Pat O'Neal of Carmi; 11 grandchildren, Jerod Healy, Wesley Knight, Misty Castro, Michelle Shaffer, Farrah Boyd, Darrin O'Neal, Jacqueline Shepherd, Bryan O'Neal, Lindsay Hill, Adam and Zack O'Neal; two stepgrandchildren, Sarah Drone and Cortney Vinyard; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Wilford and Leonard O'Neal. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Omaha Church of the Nazarene, the Revs. Gary Clark, Joann Rich and Bob Brewer officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Cemetery near Norris City.
