Carmi Times Wed May 20, 2009 Carmi, Ill. - A memorial service for Joyce Ann "Jodi" Shepard, 36, Houston, Texas, will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Steve McClure officiating. Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial gifts may be given in Jodi's name to The Guardian Center in Carmi. Mrs. Shepard, formerly of Carmi, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at St. Luke's Hospital in Sugarland, Texas. She was born Oct. 22, 1972 in Carmi, the daughter of Charles and Nancy Browning. She graduated from Carmi-White County High School in 1990. She moved to Houston, Texas shortly after graduating from Indiana State University in 1995 with a degree in criminal justice and began her career as a parole officer. Jodi's passion in life was to help others. Jodi had unwavering faith in God. She was a kind, nurturing, gentle and loving person who gave much more than she ever received. She spent countless hours volunteering her time to help abused children and families. Jodi had an unwavering faith in God and worked diligently to know Him and serve Him by reaching out to others. She held leadership positions in her church and used God as a guide throughout her life. Jodi is survived by her parents, Charles and Nancy Browning of Carmi; her husband, Marcus Shepard; children, Ashley, Blake and Tyshamera; siblings, Jill Gilmour, Scott (Bobbi) Browning, Sheila (Tom) Headlee and Roger (Beth) Browning; sister-in-law, Amy (Ben) Galley; brother-in-law, Brock (Erin) Shepard; and nieces and nephews, Matt Seigel, Brooke Gilmour, T.C. Headlee, Cheryl Gillihan, Tyler Browning, Jada, Jack and James Galley, and Bailey and Morgan Shepard.
