Carmi Times Fri Jun 05, 2009 TEXAS - A memorial service and burial for George Kenneth "Kenny" Stahl will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at White County Memorial Garden near Carmi, the Rev. Terra Sisco officiating. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Stahl, 82, died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006 at Midland Memorial Hospital in Midland, Texas. He was born July 22, 1924 in Mill Shoals Township, the son of Henry and Nell (Buttry) Stahl. He attended Cross Roads Grade School (100 yards from his home), attended three years of high school at Springerton and finished his senior year at Enfield High School. Mr. Stahl served with the Marine Corps in the South Pacific and China during World War II. After his discharge, he worked in the oil industry, first as a tool dresser for V.T. Drilling Co. of Evansville, Ind., then as a driller, and as a tool pusher for a short time. He finished his career with Baker Tools, retiring in 1988 as an area manager. He was of the Presbyterian faith. Mr. Stahl was married July 1, 1952 to Frances Weiss, and she died Feb. 2, 1992. He was married Oct. 9, 2001 to Opal (Rice) Sinatra, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Melinda and David Burns of Texas; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Harold and Margaret Stahl of Carmi, Merle and Peggy Stahl of Denver, Colo., and Wendell Stahl of Denver; a sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jim Funnell of Albuquerque, N.M.; three grandchildren, Gwen Walraven, Erin Barnes and Eric Walraven; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Addison; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald; and his first wife, Frances. Mr. Stahl's body was donated to science.
