Carmi Times Wed Jun 24, 2009, Dorothy M. Stokes, 73, Crossville, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at VNA Charlier Hospice in Evansville, Ind. She was born Nov. 8, 1935, in Mill Shoals, the daughter of Clarence and Nell (Thackery) Taylor. She was married to Kenneth Edward "Ed" Stokes, and he survives. She was a graduate of Mills-Prairie High School and Lockyear's Business College. Dorothy was an active member of Crossville United Methodist Church and was involved with the church's Kidz Club. She was a secretary/bookkeeper for White County Bank (presently known as Integra Bank) in Carmi. Survivors include her husband, Ed Stokes of Crossville, two brothers and their wives, Bill and Iva Taylor of Anderson, Ind., and Don and Nina Taylor of Grayville; and two sisters, Maxine Wells of Carbondale, and Alberta Andrews of St. Francisville. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Nell Taylor; seven brothers, Everett, Albert, Walter, Loren, Clarence, Robert and George Taylor; and two sisters, Nora Baker and Mary Helen Taylor. Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cook Funeral Chapel in Crossville. Funeral is at 2 p.m. Saturday at Crossville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Stokes Chapel Cemetery near Crossville. Memorials may be made to Crossville United Methodist Church and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel in Crossville.
