Carmi Times Tue Jun 02, 2009 LOUISIANA - William Ray "Cuz" Daugherty, 66, Zwolle, La., formerly of Carmi, died May 3 as the result of a storm. Mr. Daugherty was found dead May 15 in his pickup in his driveway. A huge tree had fallen across the truck during a May 3 storm that brought torrential rains, high winds and tornado sightings. He was born July 7, 1942 in Illinois but moved to Louisiana in 1961. He worked in the oil industry as a commercial diver and was the owner of Underwater Completion Team, Inc. and Bethsadia, House of Fishing. Survivors include his mother, Margaret Chatmon Daugherty of Carmi; three daughters, Becky, Starla and Beverly; a son, James C. Daugherty; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Donna Daugherty; a sister and brother-in-law, Roxanna and Terry Juenger of Carmi; an uncle and his wife, J.C. and Emma Daugherty; nine grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James William Daugherty; his grandparents; and one grandson. A funeral liturgy was held May 19 at Warren Meadows Funeral Home in Many, La., with interment at Aimwell Cemetery in Many.
