Carmi Times Mon Jun 08, 2009 Mt. Vernon, Ind. - Gayla A. Walker, 46, Mt. Vernon, Ind., died Saturday, June 6, 2009 at her home. She was born on May 9, 1963 in Carmi, the daughter of Henry Burnett and Claudia Julian. She married William "Bill" Walker Nov. 11, 1984 in Carmi, and he survives. Mrs. Walker was a nurses' aide at Westpark Rehab in Evansville, Ind. She was a member of the Moose and Eagles Lodges in Mt. Vernon, Ind. She is survived by her husband, Bill; a son, William Curtis Walker Jr. of Carmi; a daughter, Nicole Ann Walker of Mt. Vernon, Ind.; one granddaughter, Olivia Ann Walker; two brothers, Chuck Hunsinger and Clinton Hunsinger, both of Carmi; three sisters, Denise Osborne and Delisa Brown, both of Carmi, and Jeannie Hanmore of New Harmony; her grandmother, Dorothy Wangler of Carmi; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Burnett and Claudia Julian Blazier; and her grandfathers, Claude Julian and Edward Wangler. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Austin Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, Ind. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
